Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council occupies one of south Dublin’s most distinguished civic addresses — a building with real historical character that continues to serve as the heart of one of Ireland’s most progressive local authorities.
When DLR decided to upgrade the cycling facilities at their headquarters, the brief called for a complete end-of-trip environment — not a functional afterthought, but a considered installation that would reflect well on the building and serve staff properly across every mode of cycling.
Head-Wind worked closely with the council to specify and install a facility that respects the character of the historic premises while delivering genuinely high-quality cycling infrastructure. Every product was chosen with care — from the rubber-wrapped Sheffield stands that protect staff bikes, to the bespoke art graphics that give the space its own identity.

Semi-Vertical Bike Racks
Space-efficient semi-vertical racking specified to maximise the number of bikes stored within the available footprint of the historic building’s grounds. High capacity without visual bulk — an important consideration on a site where the architecture sets the tone.
Extra Care Sheffield Stands with Rubber Wrap
Sheffield stands upgraded with a custom rubber wrap finish to protect frames and paintwork from scratching. A small but meaningful detail for staff who commute on quality bikes — and a sign that the facility was designed with the actual user in mind, not just a specification to meet.
Free E-Bike Charging Stations
Free-to-use charging points installed as a standard part of the facility, enabling staff to charge their electric bikes securely during the working day. As e-bikes become a more common choice for longer commutes — particularly on the routes connecting DLR’s coastal and hillside catchment to the council offices — reliable workplace charging makes a real difference.
Maintenance Stand & Tools
